I Ditched My Curling Iron For This Hair Hack That Delivers Voluminous Curls Without The Hassle1

I’ll admit it, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with curling irons my entire life. I attribute this to my fine, thin hair which often loses the curls I spent precious time crafting. With no amount of hair spray or hair care products being my saving grace, and with traditional velcro rollers, foam rollers, and hot rollers absolutely not being my forte, I recently took to the internet to find a solution that could give me results I desperately wanted. After some digging, I stumbled upon a unique heatless option, and I can’t sing its praises enough.

The Zilampu Heatless Curler Headband looks questionable at first, but trust me, this product is something you’ll want to have in your life. All you have to do is wrap your hair around the curler, sleep with it, and in the morning with just a little bit of zhuzhing, you’ll have beautiful curls without the time, effort, or heat damage of a curling iron. The best part? It’s on sale for $9 at Amazon right now.

$10 $9 at Amazon The curler is crafted with a plush yet firm cotton filling wrapped in a buttery-soft velvet material that keeps your hair smooth and frizz free as you use it. The cotton filling provides enough structure to give your hair shape, but it’s flexible enough to be comfortable to wear as you sleep. Prior to buying it, I was concerned that I wouldn’t like sleeping with something wrapped around my head, but I can wholeheartedly say that the curler feels comfortable, virtually weightless, and doesn’t interfere with how my head rests on my pillow.

It measures 70 inches long and is 1.8 inches wide in diameter, so whether you have short hair or long locks you can use the curler. Though it’s 1.8 inches wide, you can adjust the tightness of your curls by wrapping your hair strands closer together or farther apart to achieve a different look. In addition to the curler, you also get two scrunchies, two hair ties, a claw clip, a wide headband, and a convenient storage bag.

The Best Curl Creams, According To Our Testing So, let’s dive into how you can achieve luscious curls with this lengthy curler contraption. First, I washed my hair and let it air-dry about 60 to 70 percent, divided my hair into two equal parts, and placed the curler on my head with the ends even on both sides. Using a strand of hair closest to the curler, I gently wrapped my hair around it and repeated this process about four or five times on each side until all of my hair was secure. I spaced out the tightness of the wraps to achieve more natural curls, but you can adjust this to your liking if you want tighter curlers or beachy waves. It looks a little wild once you’re done, but trust the process!

After wrapping my strands, I secured them in two places on each side using the elastic hair ties, then tied the remaining curler ends around the back of my head, and once more on the top to set everything in place. Then, I proceeded to do my usual nighttime routine and go to sleep. By the morning, all of my hair was still wrapped in the curler, and once I unraveled my stands, I was left with stunning, wavy curls that gave my thin, fine hair volume and body. To finish my look, all I did was brush my hair, add a hydrating hair mist, and top it off with some hair spray to hold the shape of the curls.

The entire process, including wrapping and securing my hair, took about 10 minutes. It may take some finessing and a few practices to get the hang of it, but 10 minutes versus the hour (or more) it would take me to curl and style my hair is well worth it in my book. In addition to the time it saved me in the morning, I also appreciate how the curler achieves similar if not better results than a curling iron without heat, which means my hair is protected from heat damage and can be stronger and healthier in the long run.

If you’re someone who wants to add time back to your mornings or is tired of using a curling iron, the Zilampu Heatless Curler Headband is a game-changing product to add to your cart.
