Following her last-minute decision to join her father-in-law, King Charles, at a reception at St Jamess Palace last week, the Princess of Wales looked radiant in a red and white midi dress. Just hours after Kensington Palace revealed her plans to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK, Kate made an appearance in the palaces Throne Room wearing a Rodarte dress that seemed to send a poignant message.

　　For much of the last year, the Princess of Wales has adopted a noticeably more pared-back approach to fashion. Since revealing her cancer diagnosis and later confirming she was in remission, Kate has largely favoured sleek tailoring, sharp suiting and timeless silhouettes, stepping away from some of the more eye-catching pieces that once defined her style. But last week, Kate returned to a more fashion-forward approach.

Cherry-red heels and a matching Miu Miu clutch added a polished finish, while a ruby necklace and co-ordinating drop earrings echoed the vibrant hue throughout the look.
