What is a grid-tied system?

Grid-tied solar systems are connected to the utility grid via a grid-tie inverter. The grid-tie inverter enables a two-way

transfer of power between the home’s solar-powered system and the grid.

If needed, the home can draw energy from the grid at times (such as on cloudy days or at night) when solar panels are not

producing at full efficiency. Likewise, if more energy than is needed is generated by the panels of one home, that excess energy

will be fed into the grid for use elsewhere.

Structure

The system consists of photovoltaic array, grid-connected inverter, grid, and load.

How it works

1. The photovoltaic array (PV) on the solar panels generating DC electricity

2. The DC electricity is fed into a Chasun solar inverter that converts it to AC electricity. (220-240V, 50Hz/60Hz)

3. The AC electricity is used to power appliances in your home.

4. Excess electricity is fed back into the public grid.
