It’s safe to say that one of the biggest cookware launches of 2023 was Yeti’s first-ever cast-iron skillet. In fact, this was the company’s first foray into kitchen tools, period. Given that the brand is best known for its reliable, heavy-duty coolers and tumblers—or Ramblers, as Yeti calls them—that help you reach your daily water intake, this pivot into pans was met with what can only be described as a frenzy.
The skillet sold out within 12 hours, despite its $400 price tag, as did each subsequent restock. But Yeti finally announced today that it’s rereleasing the cast-iron pan a full year after it was last available for purchase—and at a significantly cheaper price. The relaunch comes after Yeti’s acquisition of Butter Pat Industries, the company that made the skillet. Unlike its initial launch, the cookware now comes in three different sizes: 12 inches (the only size you could buy last year), 10 inches, and 8 inches.
$150 at Yeti.com The price ranges from $150 to $250, depending on the size you order, and Yeti provided some helpful tips to help you decide what version might best suit your needs. The 8-inch is ideal for sauteing side dishes and creating delicious desserts, such as cobblers. The 10-inch can also be used for sauteing, and it’s big enough to sear fish. If you prepare a lot of meat, the 12-inch is where you can perfect your ribeye and cook up a healthy portion of seasoned veggies.
55 Cast-Iron Skillet Recipes From Dinner To Dessert As for the pan itself, it includes two pour spouts so you can easily drain liquid. It’s also pre-seasoned and, like most cast iron, will become more nonstick with each use. For its maiden voyage, the brand recommends cooking something that fills the skillet and requires a high heat for an even coating. You’ll still get a scraper with your order to remove any caked-on food remnants that may get left behind.
If you’re a cast-iron connoisseur, you’ll already know that Yeti’s skillet can’t be put in the dishwasher because it will rust. Instead, it should be hand-washed with soap. We know the price might still seem high to some (or most) of you, but the good news is that the pan is designed to last for generations, so it’s a cookware investment you hopefully won’t have to make again.
